The Center for Economic Growth (CEG) is a natural partner for SATOP
With a growing technology base and significant opportunities for small and mid-sized businesses to expand their markets, the Capital Region and “Tech Valley” of New York State is one of the emerging technology centers nationwide. As the region’s leading economic development organization, the Center for Economic Growth (CEG) is a natural partner for SATOP to reach out to regional small businesses and provide free technical support.
CEG’s history with SATOP goes back to 2001 when the SATOPNY program was established. As the region’s NYSTAR designated Regional Technology Development Center, with support from the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s Manufacturing Extension Partnership Program, CEG delivers a suite of services to assist local manufacturing and technology companies to generate new sales, create stronger operational infrastructure, and overcome barriers to growth.
“We view our relationship with SATOP as another great tool in our kit to bring dedicated expertise and resources to help regional companies to grow,” said CEG Executive Vice President Jeffrey A. Lawrence. “SATOP has supported some 29 regional companies since 2001, and their expertise has helped these companies improve their manufacturing operations and products significantly.”
With more than 300 members from across 11 counties surrounding the Albany area, CEG focuses its efforts on growing local firms, attracting new investment to the region, and preparing “Tech Valley”, the area along the Hudson River Valley from Westchester County to the Canadian border, for the growth ahead. Formed by the regional business community in 1987 to bring a business focus to the practice of economic development, CEG has expanded over the years to include academia, government and business partners all collaborating to transform the region’s economy.
“This transformational effort involves everything from local government support, to land use planning, to technology transfer from our leading colleges and universities, to helping our existing technology and manufacturing companies to remain competitive. Working with SATOP is a natural extension and complement to our efforts, and we value the relationship, as do our client firm, “said CEG’s Lawrence.
